**Yes friends, I probably even snore**
This weekend was a holiday celebrating our families heritage, Cinco de Mayo. Okay I mean technically yes but honestly...(and I am ashamed to admit this) I had to google the whole point of it to verify that I was right in what I told my co-worker (don't judge!) and I was...but the reason I look forward to this holiday...well...HELLO...the eating of yummy mexican food and the drinking of some even yummier mexican drinks...BRING ON THE MARGARITAS!
(Here is a link in case you are now wondering what the real celebration of this day is for...)
Anywho, we spent the morning cleaning out our laundry room and then the afternoon was spent at the Casa De Czekalewski where the kids swam (Carina bailed on us for a sleepover at her friends), drove around in a sweet 'truck' and well the parents mingled and ignored the kids. I kid I kid. Honestly it was a blast, we met some new folks (second time meeting...first time really talking to one another) and we grubbed down and at the end of the night we were all well..happier. Here are some cute pics and if you think our daughter gets her sense of style from me (you will get this statement when you see the pics...) you are wrong, not even I could attempt to pull of something so awesome.
And so you have our Mexico Update and of course some pics...read on for Fort Knox!
Okay so as you know we have our precious little pup Chloe who just turned 1 year old in March. Well with that age comes a very wise and smart puppy brain. So wise and smart in fact that we had to figure out a way to cage the damn dog in so that she stops getting ticks from the neighboring fields and bringing those gross little things in our house as well as nearly getting herself ran over. Well...enter 'Operation Fort Knox". This weekend (much to my husband dismay) I had decided that once and for all we were going to build the most awesome Doggy Prison ever! What started out as a 'little quick project' turned into something even more awesome than I imagined. Now our dog was in a little area outside that was wrapped in a 4 foot fence and well...she figured out how to jump out of it. This was cute the first time, not so much the second, third and so on...
What we came up with was to have her in our back area that was covered, and fence it in. We would add back a dog door (we had one when I grew up for our dogs in the same area) and then shazaam...she would be locked in. Of course, once you get to planning and then buy the materials its all the sudden a much bigger project. The plus sides that did come out of this...
1. She shouldnt be able to jump out and if she can then she is either a 'master doggy wall scaler' or in fact Houdini reincarnated. Just sayin'.
2. We got to use some sweet tools to put all this together...Router...Nail Gun...table saw...
3. My dad, my hubs and I got some sweet bonding time
4. During the time we built this Rian even pooped in the potty...although irrelevant to the entire doggy Fort Knox project, I felt it worth mentioning. My blog. I do what I want.
The job is not 100% complete yet, we still need to get her little house back there, we also had to build a potty area (she wouldnt go on the concrete...so well trained...) and we need to make sure the lattice is 100% secure and add a cute matching gate to replace the board we stapled up (hey it was getting dark and we are not stupid...she would have figured a way out of any other temporary 'gate') but honestly...it looks damn good already and we are totally proud. Now if only she can stop whining for us to just stand at the door and telling her to 'go potty' life would be grand. After all the point was to give her more independance. But of course...just like a kid the more you want to get some distance the closer they want to be.
And so now I present to you Doggy Fort Knox!!
